Extract from an e-mail dated August 25, 2010 from the General Secretary to the Bishop’s Conference of England and Wales:<\/p>\n
“I am pleased to inform you that we have now received the ‘recognitio<\/em>‘ from the Congregation of Divine Worship [sic] for the English language translation text of the Missale Romanum<\/em> (tertio edition typica) [sic]. However we are still waiting to hear from the Holy See about the adaptations which were proposed by the bishops (e.g. retention of the renewal of baptismal promises on Easter Sunday Morning) and the texts of the National Propers for England and Wales. Until these texts have been received it is not possible for us to give a final date for publication. As we will be publishing with Australia and Scotland it is also necessary that they have received recognitio<\/em> as well. Once a more definitive timetable can be given, this will be provided to you.”<\/p>\n Informed sources indicate that on a cursory glance the Order of Mass may well be identical to the text given to the USA, but exhaustive checking will be required, as indeed it will be for the entire Missal text itself. No texts have yet been made available, nor any indication of the form (electronic or otherwise) in which the texts received so far have been delivered.<\/p>\n Up to this point, the latest probable timetable for England and Wales has been implementation of the Order of Mass in September 2011, ahead of implementation of the complete Missal on the 1st Sunday of Advent 2011. This timetable will now depend on the prompt receipt of the National Propers, together with the recognitiones<\/em> for Australia and Scotland (along with their respective National Propers, of course).
