In today&#8217;s excerpt, Luther is nearly as critical of the curia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/world\/wp\/2014\/12\/22\/the-15-ailments-of-the-vatican-curia-according-to-pope-francis\/?utm_term=.8c2ac25ed880\">as was Pope Francis<\/a> at Christmas 2014!<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Oh, why do we plague ourselves with the accursed pope! How can he bind sins? The crude crass ass and fool does not understand what sin is, and is not able to, and does not wish to know. I know that our children or catechumens, that is, those who know their catechism, are more learned than pope, cardinals, and the whole curia with its followers.
