Pope Francis has named\u00a0several priests, two lay women, and a layman as consultors for the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments<\/a>. They are predominantly liturgy faculty members in Europe, especially Italy,\u00a0and several musical figures are also on the list.<\/p>\n

Among those named are Massimo Palombella, director of the Sistine Choir; the presidents of the pontifical institutes of sacred music in Rome and in Milan; and Bruce Harbert, former director of ICEL who guided much of the English missal translation before ICEL\u2019s work was gutted and distorted by Vox Clara. Archbishop Arthur Roche is the CDW secretary who in effect runs the office, and since Roche was chairman of ICEL during Vox Clara\u2019s shenanigans, he surely had a hand in the appointment of the one at the helm of ICEL during the affair.<\/p>\n

And this is interesting: Harbert has just restarted his blog, Missal Notes<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>where he puts his considerable Latin skills to work in offering up trenchant critiques of the infelicities and outright mistakes in the new English missal. It is striking that a consultor to the CDW is going online to critique the missal approved not too long ago by the CDW. This can\u2019t be a good sign for Vox Clara.<\/p>\n
