\"massimo\"<\/a>The Catholic Library Association is excited to announce Dr. Massimo Faggioli as the 2017 St. Jerome Award Recipient. <\/a>A relatively young scholar, Dr. Faggioli, currently a Professor at Villanova University, has already contributed much to Catholic theology. A Church historian, he had dedicated his work to placing major Church figures, movements, and events in their proper historical context. His recent work focuses on the relationship between Catholics and politics and he was the founding Director of the Institute for Catholicism and Citizenship at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.<\/p>\n

The Award will be presented to Faggioli at the 2017 CLA Convention in conjunction with the National Catholic Educational Association Convention and Expo being held April 18-20, 2017 in St. Louis, MO.<\/p>\n

The Jerome Award, established in 1992, is presented by the Academic Libraries, Archives, and Library Education Section through the Jerome Award Committee. Named after St. Jerome, Doctor of the Church (331-420), patron of librarians, it is awarded in recognition of outstanding contribution and commitment to excellence in scholarship which embody the ideals of the Catholic Library Association.<\/p>\n

The list of past recipients is a veritable “Who’s Who” of Catholic theology, including\u00a0Katarina Schuth OSF, John O’Malley SJ, BarbaraReid OP, Elisabeth Sch\u00fcssler Fiorenza, Rev. Peter C. Phan, David Tracy, Joseph A. Fitzmyer SJ, Elizaberth Johnson CSJ, Cardinal Avery Dulles, Monika Hellwig, Richard McCormick SJ, Walter Burghardt SJ, Raymond Brown SS, and Donald Senior CP. Orbis Books has received the award, as has Liturgical Press, along with Cistercian Publications now carried by Liturgical Press, and Michael Glazier, whose Glazier Books line has long been carred by Liturgical Press.<\/p>\n

Amazon lists many books<\/a>\u00a0authored by Faggioli on a wide variety of topics related to history, ecclesiology, church renewal, and liturgy.<\/p>\n
