{"id":33852,"date":"2016-09-08T22:29:34","date_gmt":"2016-09-09T03:29:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/?p=33852"},"modified":"2016-11-10T19:55:14","modified_gmt":"2016-11-11T01:55:14","slug":"pope-francis-monasteries-are-oases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2016\/09\/08\/pope-francis-monasteries-are-oases\/","title":{"rendered":"Pope Francis: Monasteries Are Oases"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/press.vatican.va\/content\/salastampa\/en\/bollettino\/pubblico\/2016\/09\/08\/160908b.html\">Speaking to some two-hundred and fifty Benedictine abbots, conventual priors and abbesses<\/a>, gathered in Rome at Sant&#8217; Anselmo for the Abbots&#8217; Congress, Pope Francis reminded the assembled of the special role that Benedictines\u00a0play in the world.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/OSSROM130384_Articolo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-33854 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/OSSROM130384_Articolo.jpg\" alt=\"ossrom130384_articolo\" width=\"502\" height=\"356\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Vatican Radio <a href=\"http:\/\/en.radiovaticana.va\/news\/2016\/09\/08\/pope_benedictine_monasteries_are_oases_of_god%E2%80%99s_mercy\/1256702\">writes<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Pope Francis says today\u2019s society \u201cis increasingly showing its need of mercy\u201d and described Benedictine monasteries \u201cas oases of spirituality\u201d where people can obtain that mercy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>[T]he Pope said monks and nuns have a vocation of nurturing their special gift and responsibility: namely \u201cto keep alive the oases of the spirit, where clergy and the lay faithful can dip into the springs of divine mercy.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This\u00a0vocation is\u00a0very much needed now, as<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Today\u2019s world clearly demonstrates the need for a mercy that is the heart of Christian life and \u201cwhich definitively manifests the authenticity and credibility of the message of which the Church is the depository, and which she proclaims.
