{"id":30848,"date":"2015-07-26T10:53:22","date_gmt":"2015-07-26T15:53:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/?p=30848"},"modified":"2015-07-27T00:02:36","modified_gmt":"2015-07-27T05:02:36","slug":"cambridge-hymns-in-liturgy-and-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2015\/07\/26\/cambridge-hymns-in-liturgy-and-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Cambridge: Hymns in Liturgy and Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>166 of us are in Cambridge, England this week for the conference \u201cHymns in Liturgy and Life \/ Kirchenlieder in Liturgie und Leben,\u201d a joint conference of three organizations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IAH (<a href=\"http:\/\/iah-hymnologie.de\/\" target=\"_blank\">Internationale Arbeitsgemeinschaft f\u00fcr Hymnologie<\/a>),<\/li>\n<li>HSGBI (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hymnsocietygbi.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hymn Society of Great Britain and Ireland<\/a>),<\/li>\n<li>HSUSC (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehymnsociety.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hymn Society in the United States and Canada<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I\u2019m German\/English translator for the IAH, and I\u2019m giving a sectional on English office hymns based on Latin or original texts.<\/p>\n<p>Every day starts with prayer organized by one of the organizations; on Wednesday morning I\u2019m celebrating a Catholic Mass which I organized (Latin for some of the common parts, leaflet gives either English or German translation when the other language is used). Each evening there is a hymn festival or, on Thursday, an organ recital.
