{"id":2817,"date":"2010-06-29T13:53:35","date_gmt":"2010-06-29T18:53:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/?p=2817"},"modified":"2010-12-29T21:51:55","modified_gmt":"2010-12-30T03:51:55","slug":"austria-another-opinion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2010\/06\/29\/austria-another-opinion\/","title":{"rendered":"Austria: another view"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Abbot Gregor Henckel-Donnersmarck, abbot of Stift Heiligenkreuz near Vienna, is \u201csaddened\u201d by the results of the <a href=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2010\/06\/28\/from-the-land-of-mozart-haydn-bruckner-schubert\/\" target=\"_blank\">poll of Austrian priests<\/a>. \u201cI see the poll as a symptom of a false image of the church on the part of those who initiated the poll and those who participated in it. \u2026 To treat revelation in the matter of a plebiscite is fundamentally false,\u201d he told <em>Die Presse<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cPriests are lacking in ecclesial consciousness, the willingness to give oneself in obedience. Everyone wishes the best for the Church and I do not wish to speak of a schism. But not everyone is sufficiently ecclesially indoctrinated. I say this fully realizing that this means to be lovingly permeated with the teaching of the Church.\u201d Further: \u201cI always say, <em>in dubio pro papa<\/em> &#8211; in doubt, for the Pope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The abbot believes that the media are partially responsible for the increasing divergence between priests and Roman teachings. \u201cThere is a colossal presence of the public media, and this pulls many into its wake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The abbot said, \u201cIt disturbs me that, even in the consciousness of theologically educated priests, the theological basis for celibacy and our understanding of ordained ministry is no longer there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8212;<a href=\"http:\/\/diepresse.com\/home\/panorama\/religion\/577689\/index.do?_vl_backlink=\/home\/index.do\" target=\"_blank\">Die Presse<\/a>, <\/em>print edition for June 30th, excerpted and translated by AWR<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cI always say, in dubio pro papa &#8211;
