{"id":2172,"date":"2010-05-28T09:15:08","date_gmt":"2010-05-28T14:15:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/?p=2172"},"modified":"2010-12-18T21:58:25","modified_gmt":"2010-12-19T03:58:25","slug":"tempus-per-annum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2010\/05\/28\/tempus-per-annum\/","title":{"rendered":"Tempus per annum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>That&#8217;s the Latin translation of &#8220;Ordinary Time.&#8221; (Except translation generally goes in the other direction &#8211;\u00a0although, did you know\u00a0you can read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Harrius-Potter-Philosophi-Lapis-Philosophers\/dp\/1582348251\" target=\"_blank\">Harry Potter in Latin<\/a>?) A more literal translation might be &#8220;Time\/Season through the Year.&#8221; Nothing ordinary about it, but it is in order. Some have proposed &#8220;Ordered Time,&#8221; or this: &#8220;8th Week of the Church Year.&#8221; I would like that. But alas,\u00a0our new English missal will keep calling it &#8220;Ordinary Time.&#8221; The German-speakers have a nice term,\u00a0&#8220;im Jahreskreis&#8221; &#8211; &#8220;in the cycle\/circle of the year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rev.
