This year, the traditional pine tree has been replaced by an electric tree. It\u2019s called <strong>Xmas 3<\/strong> (which means \u201cChristmas Tree\u201d \u2013 get it?). It\u2019s at La Grand-Place in Brussels.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Xmas-3-a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17113\" title=\"BELGIUM CHRISTMAS\" src=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Xmas-3-a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"472\" height=\"315\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>More pictures <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/travel\/deals\/la-trb-offbeat-traveler-brussels-christmas-tree-20121203,0,4156173.photogallery\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>My Austrian news site, religion.orf.at, reports that <a href=\"http:\/\/religion.orf.at\/stories\/2561898\/\" target=\"_blank\">some people don\u2019t like it<\/a>. Over 25,000 have signed a petition calling for \u201crespect for our values and traditions.\u201d It was charged that the tree cost the city eight times as much as a real true \u2013 but in fact the energy concern Electrabel sponsored and covered the costs for the new tree.<\/p>\n<p>There is a Facebook page for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Pour-le-retour-dun-VRAI-Sapin-de-No%C3%ABl-%C3%A0-la-Grand-Place-%C3%A0-Bruxelles\/424076300978975\" target=\"_blank\">return of a true Christmas tree to the square<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, it\u2019s a matter of taste. I kind of like it.
