Yet Another Book Giveaway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.litpress.org\/Detail.aspx?ISBN=9780814680292\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-15016\" style=\"margin: 10px; float: left;\" title=\"Congar-book-cover_small\" src=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Congar-book-cover_small.jpg\" alt=\"Yves Congar My Journal of the Council\" width=\"150\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>This week, the third and final (for the time being) book giveaway.\u00a0 We\u2019ve been happy to see such a positive response to the two previous opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>This time we\u2019re giving away five copies of Yves Congar\u2019s <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.litpress.org\/Detail.aspx?ISBN=9780814680292\" target=\"_blank\">My Journal of the Council <\/a><\/em>(<a href=\" http:\/\/www.litpress.org\/excerpts\/9780814680292.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">excerpt here<\/a>)<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Congar was, of course, one of the most active and influential theologians at the Second Vatican Council. Knowing that he was playing a role in an historic event, Congar began keeping careful notes from the very beginning of his involvement and continued until the Council\u2019s close.\u00a0 But these notes are far from a simple catalog of people and dates \u2013 they offer fascinating insights into the behind-the-scenes machinations of the Council and are full of very personal, even emotional, observations.\u00a0 (See the review that appeared recently at National Review Online <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/300065\/church-full-people-michael-potemra\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Because of the very personal nature of this journal, Congar insisted it be embargoed from any publication until the year 2000. It appeared in French in 2002, but only now is it available in English.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Komanchak calls this work \u201cindispensable reading for anyone who wishes to understand the texts, and the drama, of Vatican II\u201d and<em> <\/em>Mary Catherine Hilkert, OP, has noted that \u201cthis volume provides a rare glimpse into the personal and spiritual cost of Congar\u2019s love of truth and his commitment to hand on the Church\u2019s authentic Tradition as a living heritage of faith.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Enter to win a copy of the book by filling out the form below.
