Picking up the pace on our all-too-slow jog through my comprehensive examinations process, here’s a mixed-and-matched topic that crosses the areas of Liturgical Theology, Modern Liturgical History and Anglican Studies. (For those unfamiliar: “Ritualism” was the liturgical side of the Catholic Revival in Anglicanism, both in the U.K. and in the U.S.A. — it’s the quite controversial “smells-and-bells” of High-Church Anglo-Catholic practice.)<\/p>\n
TOPIC 5<\/strong> (Liturgical Theology\/Modern): This topic, which addresses issues relative to the examinee\u2019s proposed dissertation on the Rise of Ritualism in the American Episcopal Church, 1845-1904, will involve a critical engagement with key theological and polemical works arising out of the British and American Anglican Ritualism Controversies of the nineteenth century.
