I invite <em>Pray Tell<\/em> readers to critique the text. I would ask that those offering their critiques stay focused on this text and not use this column to debate the wisdom of constructing Hymns of the Day for Roman Catholic use. It may be helpful to read the comments archived under Hymn of the Day for Lent 1B to get some sense of where the conversation has already gone. (For example, I recognize that this might be better characterized as a Gospel Hymn or a Sermon Hymn than a Hymn of the Day because it does not bring in the other readings, but your critiques will help me improve it.)<\/p>\n<p>Note that the stanzas in brackets may be omitted when the hymn is sung.<\/p>\n<p>Hymn of the Day for the Second Sunday of Lent, Cycle B<\/p>\n<p>[How good it is for us<br \/>\nWith Peter, James and John<br \/>\nTo climb the heights at Jesus\u2019 call<br \/>\nAnd bear with him alone.]<\/p>\n<p>How good it is for us<br \/>\nTo glimpse our Lord on high:<br \/>\nHis clothes outshining earthly light,<br \/>\nHis radiance as the sky.<\/p>\n<p>How good it is for us<br \/>\nTo view the speech unheard<br \/>\nWhen Law and Prophet both appear,<br \/>\nCompanions of the Word.<\/p>\n<p>How good it is for us<br \/>\nTo hear the Father\u2019s choice:<br \/>\n\u201cThis one is my beloved Son;<br \/>\nCome, listen to his voice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[How good it is for us<br \/>\nTo see God\u2019s future now,<br \/>\nTo seek as Peter by our shrines<br \/>\nEternity endowed.]<\/p>\n<p>Yet better far for us<br \/>\nWith Peter, John and James<br \/>\nTo follow Jesus down the mount<br \/>\nAnd journey through the plains.<\/p>\n<p>For on another hill<br \/>\nWhen he is lifted high<br \/>\nWe\u2019ll come to see his majesty<br \/>\nIn love poured out to die.<\/p>\n<p>Grant us, transfigured Lord,<br \/>\nTo see your beauty shine<br \/>\nIn lives transformed by charity,<br \/>\nBy hope, by faith divine.<\/p>\n<p>66.86.
