{"id":13088,"date":"2012-01-20T16:46:05","date_gmt":"2012-01-20T22:46:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/?p=13088"},"modified":"2012-01-20T16:46:05","modified_gmt":"2012-01-20T22:46:05","slug":"what-do-people-experience-in-churches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2012\/01\/20\/what-do-people-experience-in-churches\/","title":{"rendered":"What do people experience in churches?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Pray Tell<\/em> reader Jeff Reed calls our attention to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barna.org\/congregations-articles\/556-what-people-experience-in-churches\" target=\"_blank\">this report from The Barna Group<\/a>, which surveyed churchgoers from across the USA and from a variety of traditions.<\/p>\n<p>The report provides breakdowns by generation, by tradition, and by size of congregation. Among the results suggested by their survey:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;One-third of those who have attended a church in the past have never felt God\u2019s presence while in a congregational setting.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;One-quarter (23%) of those with church experience selected the  description that church feels &#8216;like a group sharing the same space in a  public event but who were not connected in a real way.'&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>This survey suggested that &#8220;church experiences do not differ all that much based on the size of the church.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do these results seem reasonable?\u00a0 &#8211;ca<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A survey from the Barna Group reports what churchgoers say about their experiences in their congregations.
