Over 6,000 believers in Belgium, including at least 211 priests, have signed a manifesto calling for reforms<\/a> in the Catholic Church. They decry parishes without priests, Eucharistic celebrated at unsuitable times, and Sunday prayer services without Communion. They ask why necessary reforms are not happening, and they call on the bishops to break the impasse. The manifesto calls for church leadership, including ordination, to be opened to women and men, married and unmarried, professional and volunteer, provided there is adequate training. They call for the admission to Communion of divorced and remarried believers of good will, and for permission for qualified lay people to preach: \u201cWe need the Word of God!\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
