Philippines Establishes Liturgical Music Commission
Fr. Genaro Diwa, the new Executive Secretary of the Philippine Episcopal Commission on Liturgy (ECL), successor to Fr. Anscar Chupungco, OSB, says that new commission on liturgical music is being organized. The hope is to encourage Philippine composers to work in liturgical music. He also hinted that a national hymnal might be in the future.

Implementation in the real world
This was to have been our great opportunity to learn the same Mass settings, get our celebrants singing, and get our congregations catechized. In the end, I sense faith-filled pragmatism will win out, as it always has. – Michael Silhavy

A Grassroots View
Will the people accept the new translation? Of course, what else would they do? It’s what the Church says. Will any priests resist or refuse to use the new missal? Heavens no, what priest would pull a thing like that?

New Zealand: missal in 2010 already?

Missal Implementation V
The Newsletter reports that the final copy is expected from the Congregation before the end of the summer. And then the implementation will proceed as planned.
