Winter Chant Workshop at Saint Meinrad’s

By Editor, November 22, 2025

Happy St. Cecelia Day. In the spirit of St. Cecelia, patron saint of church music, consider taking part in Saint Meinrad (Indiana)’s upcoming January chant workshop, hosted by their Institute for Sacred Music.

From Saint Meinrad’s website:

“The focus of the week will be on the spiritual and theological dimension of sacred music. Why do we sing at all? Why and how does music move us toward God, according to Catholic thinkers? Sessions will cover the theology of music as well as how to analyze chant and uncover its deeper meaning. That work will then form the basis for interpretating chant in rehearsals throughout the week with a keener understanding of each chant’s expressive potential. Br. John Glasenapp and Br. Joel Blaize will be joined by co-presenter Dr. Alison Altstatt for the week.”
