Upcoming Lecture by Rev. Neil Xavier O’Donoghue on Active Participation in the Eucharistic Liturgy

Rev. Neil Xavier O’Donoghue, Ph.D., will offer a lecture titled “Active Participation in the Eucharistic Liturgy as the Key to the Renewal of the Church as proposed by Vatican II” this Friday, January 12, 2024, at 7:30pm ET at the Seminary Chapel at Redemptoris Mater Seminary (Kearney, NJ).

The event is open, but registration is required by January 10th (contact Fr. Manuel at (201) 997-3220 or vicerector@rmnewark.org if you are in the area and would like to attend!).

Fr. O’Donoghue’s lecture will examine the phenomenon of active participation. Much has been written about this concept, however there has not been much work on exactly what constitutes an active participation in the liturgy. The conference will consider the roots of the renewal of the liturgy in the Liturgical Movement of the Twentieth Century. Attention will also given to the treatment of liturgy in the Second Vatican Council, in particular in the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy (Sacrosanctum Concilium).

The post-conciliar period will be also examined.
