“The world’s smallest priest”

Take a look at Fr. Leopold, โ€œthe worldโ€™s smallest priestโ€โ€ฆ made out of Lego blocks! (Lego does not authorize or endorse this product.)

N.B.ย  This post qualifies as humor, folks. I thought Iโ€™d say that up front, lest all you devotees of liturgical toys think I am either getting a commission or indulging in detraction. I am not suggesting that you run out and buy Fr. Leopold and his kit, or that you deplore and denounce him. I do hope you will laugh though, as I did.

Loved this bit of advertising copy:

Due to the overwhelming interest in this productโ€ฆ

Overwhelming!

And this — even better:

Congregation not included.

I can’t decide whether whoever made this up had a sense of irony or not.

Of course, it could all be a leg-pull. Thereโ€™s only one product in the catalogโ€ฆ

    1. I laughed, though also found it a bit sad that you had to explain that this qualifies as humor. Are people that uptight these days?

    2. I also giggled at the size and thickness of the blessed hosts. They look quite sturdy and are huge!

    3. Finally, I think it’s legit (well, I hope it is) and that whoever put this together has a wicked sense of humor — like most Very Good Catholics do ๐Ÿ™‚

      Re: #2, I did notice that! Substantial! Reminds me of a hockey puck.

    It says that it comes with a sacramentary. 1970 or 1998? I wonder in which diocese has Fr. Leopold been given the indult to use those texts.

      Kyle, keen eye! Ha!

      The Diocese of Legoland, of course!

        @Richard Skirpan:
        I believe Legoland remains an Apostolic Vicariate.

    I’ve made minifigure priests before. I took a lego figure who had a white shirt on, replaced the legs with white pieces to make it more like a robe, and made a green chasuble out of paper (I looked at how Lego cuts its capes and robes to see how to attach it). I had him standing outside the door of a Victorian Gothic church I built, like he had just finished Mass and was greeting people.

    Legoland may be a titular bishopric.

    Now I know what to get several friends for their Christmas presents.

    No doubt one of the songs during the Mass is “Everything is Awesome!”

      @Lee Bacchi:
      V. Everything is awesome.
      R. Everything is cool when you’re part of a team.
      V. Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
      R. As it was in the beginning is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Awesome.

    I’ve spoken over the years with several priests who reported that they played “saying mass” in their basement, garage or backyard as a kid, and that this was an early manifestation of their calling. So it wouldn’t surprise me if there really is a market for a kit like this – perhaps consisting of grandmas secretly hoping that their little boy will grow up to be a priest!
